Overview

StioltoRespimat(Tiotropium Bromide Monohydrate/ Olodaterol Hydrochloride) is a prescription based drug. Moreover, it is an oral inhaler. Moreover, it is used as a maintenance treatment for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, including Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema. StioltoRespimat is the brand name of the drug. It is a combination of two drugs, Tiotropium Bromide Monohydrate and Olodaterol Hydrochloride. It is also marketed internationally as InspioltoRespimat.

How It Works

StioltoRespimat inhalation drug contains two active ingredients, i.e. Tiotropium Bromide Monohydrate and Olodaterol Hydrochloride. Tiotropium Bromide Monohydrate belongs to a class of medications called long-acting anticholinergics. Whereas, Olodaterol Hydrochloride belongs to a class of drugs called long-acting beta2-agonists. Both the drugs helps to relax the contracted muscles in the airways to make breathing easier in patients. This drug helps to improve lung function more effectively as compared to individual drugs. It prevents wheezing, coughing and other breathing problems.

Dosage

  • Not approved for children under 18 years.
  • Adult Dosage:
  • Take two inhalations orally once a day at the same time.
  • The maximum recommended dose is 2 inhalations in 24 hours.

  • Allergic Reaction
  • Paradoxical Bronchospasm: Symptoms are, for instance:
  1. Coughing
  2. Trouble Breathing
  • Heart Problems: Symptoms are, for instance:

  3. Fast heart rate
  • Eye problems: Symptoms are, for instance:
  1. Painful eyes and swelling of eyes
  2. Blurred vision
  • Painful urination
  • Low potassium levels
  • Pneumonia
  • High blood sugar levels
  • Severe breathing problems: Symptoms are, for instance:
  1. Wheezing
  2. Coughing
  3. Trouble breathing
  4. Feeling tired
  • Common Side Effects:
  • Cold
  • Cough
  • Back pain

These are some symptoms of this drug. However, if you notice any side effects, call for immediate medical help.

How to Take This Medication

  • Please take it as and when prescribed by the doctor.
  • Follow the instructions and directions carefully.
  • If there is confusion, ask your doctor.
  • Take only 2 inhalations in 24 hours.
  • Moreover, use the inhaler provided with the drug.
  • Above all, use the inhaler carefully.
  • Use proper technique for inhalation, as directed by the doctor.
  • Prime the inhaler before use.
  • If you don’t use the inhaler for more than 3 days, prime it again.
  • Clean the inhaler after use.
  • Dispose of the inhaler, when the medicine is finished.
  • If you miss a dose, don’t take 2 doses together.
  • However, if you overdose, get immediate help.

  • Important Warning:
  • Risk of death in Asthma patients: StioltoRespimat(Tiotropium Bromide Monohydrate/ Olodaterol Hydrochloride) may increase the risk of death in Asthma patients, likewise.

  • Don’t take this drug if you have/are, for instance:
  1. Allergic Reaction
  2. Asthma
  • Inform your doctor if you have/are, for instance:
  1. Heart disease
  2. High blood pressure
  3. Thyroid disorder
  4. Seizure
  5. Diabetes
  6. Glaucoma
  7. Kidney Disease
  8. Enlarged prostate
  9. Urination problems
  10. Pregnant or planning to get pregnant
  11. Breastfeeding
  12. Going to have surgery, for example.
  13. Taking other medication, consequently
  • It will not treat an ongoing bronchospasm attack, likewise.
  • It is not approved for children below 18 years, above all.
